It may seem like an oxymoron...how can something be called modern hair metal? BBABH has done it. This album hearkens back to the 80s in a big way, but retains a full-on modern metal onslaught. The hooks here could catch a whale, but there's attitude all over this record. Each and every song is well crafted and stands on its own merits. The opening two tracks, Deathwish and Shut Up And Rock, are as blistering a 1-2 punch as you've probably heard since 1988. However, while these two songs are probably the most aggressive on the album, the rest of the album still rocks hard. The ballad, a power ballad called I've Got You, is right up there with the best of the hair band ballads from the 80s. The aggressive modern vocals that were more prevalent on the band's earlier output are almost all gone, save for the verses of Love Nightmare. Other than that, the singing is all clean, and this guy has some serious pipes!

The production is outstanding. Every instrument, including the... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars More melody than one can handle! "Blessed by a Broken Heart" are back!, March 18, 2012

Canadian modern glam metal band "Blessed by A broken Heart" are back with their brand new third album "Feel The Power"; A good four years past the release of the previous album "Pedal to the metal" the band re-emerge under a new record label (`Tooth&Nail'/ `Rude Records') and perhaps a new musical orientation.

To begin with, the melodic identity of "Blessed.." once again dominates the music on "Feel the Power" with melodic guitar lines, shredding and keyboard harmonies firmly present throughout the track-list. On the other hand the screaming vocals that were dominated the previous albums are kept to the minimum on this one, as most songs are performed with clean melodic rock vocals; Equally significant is the new rhythm section approach, making extensive use double bass drumming which complements ideally the melodic lines and large choruses.

No doubt there are many great moments on this one "Holdin' back for nothin'", "Forever", "Scream it like you mean it",... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Motorbikes and partying, January 26, 2012
This review is from: Feel The Power (Audio CD)
Blessed By A Broken Heart formed in Montreal, Canada in 2003 as a metalcore outfit and released `All Is Fair In Love And War' in 2004. Following the addition of Shred Sean (guitar) and Tony Gambino (vocals) they moved towards eighties metal on `Pedal To The Metal' (2008) with Century Media Records. After some serious touring, they got picked up by Tooth & Nail for their third album `Feel The Power' (2012).

The band now comprises Tony Gambino (vocals), Shred Sean (guitar), Tyler Hoare (bass), Sam Ryder (guitar) and Slater (drums). Gambino stated "We've definitely matured as a band. We really wrote this album collectively, and it just naturally had this progression of where we all wanted to go. The whole band is still obsessed with the '80s, and that's bled into our lifestyles. It's not just when we're on tour: We all kind of dress '80s; we still have mullets. It's become part of our lives. On the last album, we used more of the cheesy side of the '80s, and this album we used... Read more
