(Washington, DC) - See all my reviews This review is from: A Modern Day Prodigal Son (MP3 Download) I could write a bunch of words to try to describe how good this Freshman launch is but they would fall short.I've seen a L-O-T of fresh country faces over the years and Brantley Gilbert is by far the best thing to hit the country scene since Chris Cagle... The trouble is that I fear he'll suffer the same fate as Chris if he doesn't start to do something about his management and do some real touring (and break out of the small town hick joints with his buddies). I honestly believe someone along the way told this guy that he'd never make it enough times to where he still kinda believes it and that's why he's still thinking so small almost a year after his debut. He needs to hitch his wagon to a big name long enough to show that he can put 10,000 butts in the seats on his own... Downloaded a few singles and fell in love. Bought both of his CDs in the same day. This is a good CD. Some fun songs and some heart touching songs. "Modern Day Prodigal Son" is an amazing song with such a hopeful message. Some songs with a more traditional sound, some with a modern sound.
