Despite the fact that I actually get a bit of a James Morrison (whom I LOVE) vibe from Ben Rector's track, `Let the Good Times Roll', I can't help but feel that this is a missed mark for the singer. I mean, he has the vocal chops, for his voice is smooth and engaging but the song itself is so outdated, even down to the production values which are little better than recording this in a barn. The track sounds so old, and not in a good way. I like the idea of fusing soul with near country influences, and so I really think that Ben Rector could produce something great, but this is not. It's marginally fun, but it doesn't really warrant repeat listens. I also found that the inclusion of the horns at the end was a misstep. It wasn't done with the modern edge that Lady Gaga recently used in `The Edge of Glory'; instead it almost gives it a `Cosby Show' feel. Rector also needs to use better vocal fluctuation. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not Rector At His Best - Not Sure He Knows It, Though, October 11, 2011

Ben Rector is a phenomenal songwriter/musician. His first few albums, and his newest one, are all wonderful collections. However, this particular song might be the weakest off of his new album-- I just don't think he knows it. It's got a good message, and a good feel, but it's repetitive and doesn't pack as much energy as it could. Not one of my favorite tracks, but I'm still a fan of this guy and his music. I wonder if it was him or some higher-up who made the mistake of making this the giveaway single to get people interested. I was already interested, and still am, but I don't think this was the wisest choice for a promo song.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting tune, October 19, 2011

Interesting song, what really surprises me though is the amount of time it has been the number one free song.
