5.0 out of 5 stars One of The Best Albums I've Got...., May 29, 2011

So, I'm a self confessed music snob, so that makes me sort of a jerk. I admit this freely. I'll also admit that I'm rarely impressed by albums enough to mention them to the general public let alone spend the time to write a review.

In short this album is brilliant. This album has it all.... It's got POP appeal (it's actually kind of cute at certain points), but it's counterbalanced with emotional lyricism and poignancy. It's a fun album to listen too, it is very catchy and entertaining but also has a level of depth that isn't often achieved, it's deceptively listenable. Plus, for it's catchiness and 'pop appeal'... there's something remarkable about this guy's muscianship. He has style AND he can play AND he's saying something relevant. In short, buy the album....

5.0 out of 5 stars This Is Fantastic..., September 21, 2011
This review is from: Pink Strat (Audio CD)
In a very simple understated way. Like the only other reviewer wrote, there is something magical about this man's musicianship. The entire album is straightforward and honest, the instrumentation itself is so wonderfully executed and it compliments his lyrics perfectly again nothing complicated and grandiose in any way, but there is real soul here. Hockey Teeth is a hearffelt even mildly "cute" song that I found myself singing along to it. Melody abounds in this album and it puts an almost psychodelic trance on you. Summer Blues is another standout track. You know this almost reminds me of old school country, my dad used to play Hank Williams records when I was a kid and for some reason I can't help but make that comparison, it makes me somewhat nostalgic and words truly can't explain what a pleasant surprise it was for me to hear this album. It honestly is one of the best albums top to bottom that I own and to think I found it in the used section of a record store for four dollars... Read more

Wow. Incredible music. For those that appreciate unassuming, stripped down, understated awesomeness. Listening to the first few tracks of this album reminded me that there will continually be great music produced by great minds that are yet to be discovered (or at least heard by the mainstream). If you dig M. Ward, Iron & Wine, Sean Hayes, Joe Henry, Harper, Fitzsimmons, etc, etc, check this album out...
