It's OK, but frankly I rarely play it. Now in 2012 Arista Records has released an updated compilation they have dubbed "Knew You Were Waiting: The Best of Aretha Franklin 1980-1998". Pardon me if I yawn but I simply cannot muster a whole heck of a lot of excitement about this one.Now let's be clear about one thing. Even as an older artist Aretha Franklin's pipes blow away most of the female singers out there today. But as far as I'm concerned the vast majority of her work at Arista lacks the raw power and incredible energy that was so prevalent during her heyday at Atlantic in the late 1960's and early 1970's.
